NO EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING NECESSARY.Female dogs in heat may not compete, please do not bring to the event. Dogs that are aggressive towards either people or dogs will be asked to leave. Do not bring dogs that are not entered in the competition. WHAT SHOULD I BRING Your dog, 2 leashes and 2 handlers. One to release and one to catch. If you come as a single, volunteers will be available to release your dog. Treats for your dog, A flat collar with no tags. Choke chains not allowed. A chair and kennel for CANINE COMFORT ZONE. Picnic lunch. Your family and friends to cheer you on! CAN I CALL MY DOG Yes, make as much noise as you want DURING RUN. You may not use treats or toys to lure dog. You can use treats and toys as a reward after dog finishes race. AFTER THE RUN Retrieve your dog as soon as possible and exit the track. Pick up QUALIFIER ribbon. HOW MANY EVENTS Most dogs can enter 2 events. One run in the morning session and one in the afternoon. Most dogs, especially newcomers, do better the 2nd run after “they get it.” CAN I ENTER Senior dogs in good condition may enter 3 events. CHECK IN We hope to be using the Agility Gate app. Download it before you arrive. Assistance will be available. Check in from 7:30 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. HANDLER’S MEETING 8:30 A.M. CLERK OF COURSE After check in report to the Clerk of Course for running order wristband. Groups of 10 will be sent to the starting area by the Clerk of Course. Do not go to the starting area before you are sent by the Clerk of Course. OPENING CEREMONY 8:45 A.M. - SALUTE TO AMERICA COMPETITION BEGINS 9:15 A.M. - 100 Yard dash POLICE DOG DEMO 11 A.M. Amateur dog racing demo before police dog demo FIRST RESPONDERS Ceremony at noon to honor First Responders, Military and Community Service Leaders LUNCH Approximately 1 hour. At this time no food service is available. Bring the family and a picnic lunch. Picnic area provided. AFTERNOON SESSION 100 yard dash. 50 yard dash for Seniors (over 8) and puppies (6 mo. - 1 year) There will be a handlers meeting for those just attending the afternoon session. AWARDS Olympic style medals will be awarded for 1st - 3rd in each flight. TEAM TROPHY The Doug Cannedy Memorial Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the high-point team. FLIGHTS Flights for small (under 12 inches) - medium (12 -18 inches), and large dogs (over 18 inches). TRACK The Ghilotti Bros. Track of Champions is grass and fully fenced. DOG COMFORT ZONE A tent will be provided. Industrial fans, a community water dish, a cooling pool, and even a complimentary massage for your dog (gratuities are greatly appreciated) by professional massage therapists.
